Postcard Marketing Insight

You all know how I feel about postcard marketing (hate it) but since many of you still like to do it I thought you would find this post from Alison Rogers of Inman News interesting. She makes very valid points about consumer behavior and reaction rates.

Hi Chris,

I send all kinds of postcards to my farm area, the recipe ones, the Spring Forward kind, the Fall backward one, the Holiday ones, I send a calendar each year, one in December and one for the Football season. One of the recipients is my neighbor, they get my stuff all the time, and just the other day they said, "oh guess what, we brought a house, a friend of mine from school that works for Remax was our Realtor." And yet, I never saw his calendars in their fridge.
Do I give up? Absolutely not, but like me, other people get tired sometimes of the junk mail, that's why I send stuff people can use all the time, like pens, calendars, etc. Then again, people usually go with who they know, and nothing beats word of mouth, and one on one contact.
